Coconut Chia Pudding Detox Friendly Recipe

IMG_1231Coconut Chia Pudding Recipe

Chia seeds are rightly called “superfood” as they are packed with nutrients e.g.  rich in fiber (5 grams in 1  tablespoon!), protein (can be used as the egg replacement), omega-3, calcium, manganese, magnesium, phosphorus and many other nutrients.

They almost have no taste at all, so it is easy to incorporate them in many recipes or add to foods like yogurt, cereal, juices, pudding etc.

This recipe is one of my favorite ways of using the chia seeds to make a delicious desert that can even be used as a part of many detox protocols.

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons chia seeds
  • 1 cup unsweetened coconut milk or almond milk
  • 1 teaspoon Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla powder
  • Some ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 2 teaspoons pure stevia powder or honey (optional)
  • 3/4 cup of low-sugar fruits such as raspberries, blueberries or kiwi (optional)

Duration

  • 10 minutes

Directions

  1. In a bowl, stir together chia seeds, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and stevia/honey. You can add some (warm) water if your coconut milk is too tick.
  2. Let it sit for 30 minutes or refrigerate overnight. The chia seeds will expand and absorb liquid.
  3. For me the recipe stops here, but if you like you can add some fruits just before serving.

Garlic Tea for Fighting Cold & Flu

Home Remedy for Cold: Garlic Tea For Quick Relief

Garlic Tea Fights ColdGarlic excels as an antibacterial and antiviral herb for cold, coughs and the flu.

For those who are not up to eating it raw, which tends to be absolutely the best way to consume it, an alternative comes in form of garlic tea which surprisingly has a pretty nice flavor.

Preparation does matter a lot, because when handled incorrectly, garlic does not release or loses allicin, the most beneficial compound.

Preparation Time

  • 25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 5-6 cloves of garlic. When treating a child’s cold, use less garlic 2-3 as it may be too hot for them.
  • 2 cups of filtered water
  • Raw or pure honey
  • Juice of lemon

Steps

  • Peel the cloves.
  • Mince or press the cloves into a paste. This is important, as by chopping garlic more finely, more allicin is produced. Pressing garlic or mincing it into a smooth paste will give you the strongest flavor and may also result in an increased amount of allicin.Press Garlic For Most Benefits
  • Let the garlic sit for 15 minutes. This is important, otherwise the allicin will not get a chance to get released.
  • Bring the water to a boil. Lower the heat, and add the garlic paste. Lowering the heat to low or medium is important, otherwise allicin will be destroyed.
  • Simmer for another 10-12 minutes. Important: simmering over 15 min. will weaken and damage allicin.
  • Strain the garlic and allow the tea to cool to mouth temperature.
  • Add raw honey and lemon juice. Alternatively you can add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
  • Drink it throughout the day.
